Grace morning on this fresh and festive Friday.
In life from time to time we all find ourselves in the pits. There will be times when we seem to be at our breaking point. We get discouraged with where we aren't, depressed with where we are, and disappointed with ourselves because of it.
This sense of hopelessness can push you into a panic pit. The good news is you can get out. Regardless of whether you were thrown in, you slipped in, or you jumped in, you can get out. Even if you have a history of failed attempts.
Even if you’ve never lived anywhere else. People can help you but they can’t heal you. People can lift you but they can’t carry you.
On occasion people can pull you out of a pit, but they cannot keep you out. Nor can they set your feet upon a rock. When we come out of a pit, if our idea of stability is standing on another human’s shoulders, his clay feet will inevitably crumble and we’ll take a tumble. Trust God who never fails.
“I was patient while I waited for the Lord to help me. He turned towards me, and he heard me when I called to him. He lifted me out of the deep hole of danger. He picked me up out of the mud. He put my feet on a rock. Then I could walk and not slip.”
