Grace morning on this triumphant and tranquil Tuesday.
God has a unique way of bringing out the hidden masterpiece that you are. He allowed two of the most accomplished artists, very well-known sculptors look at a large piece of marble and said “there was no way we could work with it, it has too many flaws, too many imperfections.” They turned it down because the marble had too many blemishes, defects. They were convinced that it could never stand strong, never be turned into something significant. Yet, young Michelangelo came along, he saw the same block of marble, the same defects, the same flaws, but he looked beyond the imperfections. He said “I see a masterpiece in this rock. I see king David in that marble”. Like those first two artists, other people may look at you and think “They’ll never amount to much, look at their failures, their weaknesses, they struggle with anger, they’re hot tempered”, or “look what they’ve been through. The bad breaks, the disappointments”. Underneath all the flaws is a masterpiece.
“Everyone wanted to see what had happened. They came up to Jesus and saw the madman sitting there wearing decent clothes and making sense, no longer a walking madhouse of a man.”
